Noted author/historian, anti-racism educator/activist and truth-teller, Rev. David Billings discusses his best-selling book, Deep Denial: The Persistence of White Supremacy in United States History and Life, and expounds on the personal and collective price of systemic racism, the history of white supremacy in the US, and the need for white people to recognize how they benefit from it. As a core trainer for the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, “Undoing Racism Community Organizing” workshop, he has helped thousands of people see and understand the role of structural racism in America. Billings argues that white supremacy profoundly shapes our laws as well as our collective psyche and that even the most committed practitioners of antiracism are not immune to its influence on ourselves, our nation, and our times.
